eM+C writes of a subject that shouldn't surprise us, that moms are a strong force in the online world. Here are just a couple of the stats that struck me:
  • Moms comprise more than 40 percent of the adult female Internet population
  • 85 percent of online moms use e-mail
  • 64 percent pay bills
  • 57 percent read news
  • 49 percent research products
  • 45 percent shop for children
  • 44 percent shop for self
  • 69.4 percent of U.S. moms visited one or more social media sites in March 2009
  • 58 percent of online moms named blogs as their favorite type of online content.
  • 35 percent said they'd read a blog in the past week.
  • 70 percent of mom Internet users made purchases online in the past 12 months - 38% percent spent at least $200 on online purchases over the past year, and 13 percent spent $1,000 or more.
What is your company doing to target and serve this obviously powerful and valuable demographic?
